Enigo Privacy Policy
How Enigo handles your data.
Last updated:
Enigo (“the game”) is made by Snowcode, the trade name of Sergi Lázaro Pueyo (Spanish tax ID 25366475M), who is responsible for your information (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information is collected when you play Enigo on your phone, tablet or computer, why it is collected, who handles it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You don’t need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Your game is saved on your device. We don’t run servers, and the game never sends your progress to us.
- Ads are served by Google AdMob: videos you choose to watch and, when you leave a puzzle, at most one full-screen ad every ten minutes of play. A one-time purchase, «No ads», removes them all.
- We measure how the game is played with Google Analytics for Firebase, without your advertising identifier.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any ad is loaded or anything is measured. Saying no doesn’t change the game at all.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play or the App Store. We never see your payment details.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Information stored on your device
The game saves the following on your device only:
- the puzzles you’ve solved, the hints you’ve seen and the notes you’ve written on each page;
- your frost, the extra puzzles you’ve unlocked and the day of your last daily gift;
- your settings, such as language, typeface, text size and music volume;
- how many frost videos you’ve watched today, so they stay within the daily limit, and how much playing time has passed since the last ad between puzzles, so they stay at most one every ten minutes;
- the reference of each purchase, so the same order is never added twice, and whether you bought «No ads».
This information is never sent to us. If your device backs up its apps (Android backup or iCloud), your game may be included in that backup, depending on how your device is set up. Deleting the game, or clearing its data in your device’s settings, deletes it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Enigo is free to play and paid for by ads and optional purchases. There are no banners, and no ad ever appears in the middle of a puzzle. There are two kinds of ads:
- videos that you choose to watch, for a new hint, the solution to a puzzle, or a little frost;
- full-screen ads (interstitials) when you leave a puzzle, whether you solved it, gave up or stopped halfway, at most one every ten minutes of play.
The «No ads» purchase removes both, for good.
The ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect:
- your device’s identifiers: on Android, the advertising ID and the app set ID; on iPhone and iPad, the identifier for vendors;
- your IP address and the approximate location it indicates;
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system, language and app version, and diagnostic information, such as how long the app takes to start and whether it crashes;
- how you interact with ads, for example whether an ad was shown, whether a video was watched to the end, or whether an ad was tapped.
Google uses this information to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, show ads that are more relevant to you. We ask only for ads suitable for all ages. On iPhone and iPad, the game doesn’t ask for permission to track you, so AdMob doesn’t use your device’s advertising identifier there.
See Google’s Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and How Google uses cookies and other information in advertising.
Your consent to ads and analytics
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game shows Google’s consent form once, after the welcome and before any ad is loaded. You can consent, choose what to allow, or not consent:
- if you don’t consent to personalized ads, the ads are not personalized;
- analytics (below) only runs if you allow information to be stored on your device and the game to be measured;
- whatever you choose, the game gives you exactly the same: the same hints, the same solutions and the same frost.
You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Privacy and ads. In US states whose laws let you opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising, you can do so from the same place.
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is played and to make it better: to find out which puzzles are harder than they should be, whether a hint actually helps, and how far players get. It collects:
- a random identifier created for each installation of the game;
- device model, operating system version, language, app version, and the approximate location (such as the country) that your IP address indicates;
- when you open the game, for how long, and when it was installed or updated;
- gameplay events:
- the language, typeface and text size you choose when you first start;
- each puzzle you open and close: which one, whether you solved it or gave up, how many checks failed, how many hints you saw and how long it took;
- each hint you see and each video you ask for, and whether it was watched to the end, and each ad between puzzles;
- the frost you earn and spend (on hints, solutions and extra puzzles), and the extra puzzles you unlock;
- each new world you reach;
- your purchases: the product, its price and currency.
Analytics doesn’t use your device’s advertising identifier on Android, iPhone or iPad, collects nothing that tells us who you are, and isn’t used for ads. Where we ask for your consent, it only runs if you allow it; on iPhone and iPad in those places, the game can’t read your answer, so analytics stays off.
We look at this information as statistics, for example “how many players solved puzzle 12 without a hint”, not to identify individual players. Google keeps it for 14 months and then deletes it automatically. See Privacy and security in Firebase.
Purchases
You can buy frost, the game’s currency, which pays for hints, solutions and extra puzzles, and «No ads», a one-time purchase that removes all ads. Purchases are processed by Google Play on Android and by the App Store on iPhone, iPad and Mac. They handle your payment details, and we never see them. The game receives a confirmation of what was bought (the product and an order reference) so it can add the frost or remove the ads, and keeps the reference so the same order is never added twice. When you reinstall the game or tap Restore purchases, Google Play or the App Store tells the game whether you own «No ads».
Information from Google Play and the App Store
Google Play and the App Store give developers statistics, such as the number of installs, countries and ratings, and crash and performance reports. Google and Apple collect this information under their own privacy policies; crash reports are only sent if you allowed your device to share diagnostics. We only see it as statistics, and we use it to fix bugs and make the game run better.
Links
From Settings you can go to the Enigo Discord server and to this policy. They open outside the game, and Discord handles your information under its own privacy policy.
Who receives information
The only companies that receive information from the game are:
- Google, for AdMob ads, Firebase analytics, Google Play purchases and Google Play statistics;
- Apple, for App Store purchases and statistics, if you play on iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Google and Apple may process information outside the European Union, under the safeguards described in their policies, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
We don’t sell your personal information and don’t share it with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
Your choices
- Ads and analytics: change what you chose in Settings › Privacy and ads.
- Advertising ID on Android: reset or delete it, or opt out of ads personalization, in your device’s settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads).
- Ads: videos only play when you ask for one; ads between puzzles appear at most once every ten minutes of play; the «No ads» purchase removes both.
- Everything on your device: delete the game, or clear its data in your device’s settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some US states such as California, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information about you is processed;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- object to or restrict how it’s used;
- withdraw consent you have given.
Where EU or UK law applies, personalized ads and analytics rely on your consent. Non-personalized ads, fraud prevention and store statistics rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the game free, working and improving. Purchases rely on the contract to deliver what you bought.
Because the game has no accounts, we usually can’t connect information to you personally. Still, contact us and we’ll help with any request, including passing it on to Google or Apple. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In Spain, that’s the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.
Children
Enigo is made for teenagers and adults, and it’s not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in their country. If you believe a child has given us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
The game has no accounts or passwords, and we don’t run servers that store information about you. Information sent to Google and Apple travels over encrypted connections and is protected by their security measures.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll also mention it in the game’s update notes.
